I'll bring you back to the stars.

Even at our birth, death does but stand aside a little.
And every day he looks towards us and muses somewhat to himself whether that day or the next he will draw nigh.

my dearest ben....

i know how hard you've been working and how stressful it has been. ever since you started work as an underpaid slave in an over-rated company i haven't seen you much. i just want you to know that i'm here if you need me...and that i miss you :)

random thought no.2

someone once told me that if i wanna get what i really want....i have to risk losing everything. life is just a big fat gamble....a 24 hour casino of choices. and everyone has choices....anybody that tells you otherwise must be stuck with only 2....neither of which is favourable. but in the end...there is a choice. it might not be your ideal choices but you still have them. question is...are you willing to gamble with your life? take those risks....make those sacrifices....or even try....?

if you wanna find love...you have to be willing to put your heart out there and risk getting it broken and subsequently...stepped on multiple times. if you want money...and i mean lotsa money...you have to either work your ass off for the rest of your life or risk what you already have in hopes that it will grow...ergo investing it or opening a business. if you want to be honest...you have to risk hurting people..some of which are close to you. if you want to be yourself...you have to risk the chance that people might not like or accept what they see. if you want to live...you gotta risk your life. ironic isn't it....

a feeling of power

now i'm a racist....oh well....

i saw a poster at the singapore customs office and it read... "exposing your valuables and you might end up losing it". another one which i'm still unsure about is an OCBC ad on a bus that reads "how long more must i take this bus to work?". i took a picture but ben will know why i didn't post it up. is it just me or is there something wrong with the grammar in those ads?

speaking about grammar....a few years ago i read a short story by isaac asimov entitled "a feeling of power". it talks about a time so far into the future when men will become completely dependent on calculators and computer. with the advances in technology....writing and arithmetic has become a lost art. i admit i don't write properly when using a computer. i forget about upper/lower case alphabets..punctuations...spelling...spacing...paragraphs and grammar. see...i'm doing it right now. i admit that i tend to use both british and american english. honour and honor...colour and color...programme and program....etc. people are so used to seeing words like 'love' being spelt as 'luv' and the most common of the lot....'you' being spelt as 'u' that they tend to incorporate those sms/i.m type spellings into their handwritten work. i know i do it sometimes...

these machines were probably built with the purpose of saving us time. imagine having to calculate 86+47-53x64 right now. i'll probably spend 2 minutes working on that sum using mental calculation and someone else will get the answer in 10 seconds by utilising a calculator. but by saving us time as well as effort...we've grown complacent...dependent...lazy. same goes with writing. everything can be done with microsoft office. it's so much more convenient to type and print. saves us the time...saves us the effort. it's the same with drawing as well. everything is done by photoshop or whatever programme it is people are using to create graphics nowadays.

so my thought is....
will there ever come a day when men will become completely dependent on these machines that they'll forget how to write by hand and do mental arithmetic?

btw...has anyone ever seen the movie bedknobs and broomsticks or 'the lion the witch and the wardrobe' cartoon from 1979?

high of the day: getting my dad at 12 cards in a game of chor vs. the tub of vanilla haagen dazs ice cream i had earlier

low of the day: right now...just before its time to go to bed while the construction workers pound away at my neighbours walls.

in a nutshell

my house was broken into. i'm not being a racist or anything but i know for a fact that the perpetrators were either malay or indonesian. anyway...a team of screwdriver weilding men managed to break the lock...yes...we only have 1 lock. my house is very easily accessible. stole some cameras that were lying around on the table...took my moms purse...took the keys to the vios and the wira...and eventually...took the vios too. it's a funny story...if anyone is interested just write me at feefs_@hotmail.com and i shall gladly tell you the whole story...from the point of entry to the getaway. i of couse was stuck in singapore but when i heard the full story yesterday i couldn't help but laugh. i was rolling around hysterically. i'm pretty sure it was traumatic for both my brother and my mom who witnessed part of the incident but at least we can look back at it now and just laugh.

anyway...random thought. do the women who are easy spoil the market for those who play hard to get?
